Rotary Clubs - Peace Corps - Give-A-Book Project
Give-A-Book has been partnering with Rotary Clubs to provide new books to children, schools and libraries in communities served by Peace Corps Volunteers for over fifteen years. Peace Corps Volunteers continually contact us on behalf on their communities and provide a project description, at which time we develop a budget for each individual project. Through the partnering of Rotary Clubs in the U.S and Rotary Clubs in Costa Rica, we successfully raise funds and receive grants to keep this amazing humanitarian project growing. Rotarians, Peace Corps Volunteers, Church Mission Teams and humanitarian service teams help to sort and deliver the books to the various regions. In 2014, Rotary and Peace Corps signed an Official Collaboration Agreement. Recently at the Rotary District 5540 Conference, Rotary and Peace Corps executed a new three year Memorandum of Understanding. We are proud to be a part of this successful networking of organizations making a difference in multiple Latin American countries.
“This unique coalition, between Rotary Clubs in 3 locations, the Peace Corps and the Give-a-Book Foundation demonstrates that the motto of service transcends geography and that children and education are shared priorities.” - Mahbub Ahma, Yonkers Rotary President-Elect
Give-A-Book would like to congratulate the Roselle-Roselle Park Rotary Club on their recent first place award for the Rotary-Peace Corps-Give-A-Book Project in the International Projects Category for Rotary District 7510.

Our November Literacy Mission was a huge success! Our group was made up of Rotarians, Peace Corps Volunteers and friends from previous missions! The team traveled to the central and southern regions of Costa Rica to provide books to schools in communities served by Peace Corps Volunteers. Team members and friends worked in the warehouse three consecutive Saturdays sorting books and making (42) sets to be delivered to schools. We visited with (11) Peace Corps Volunteers and delivered books to eight schools. In addition, another (8) sets of books were sent and delivered to schools served by Peace Corps Volunteers. Members of the Garabito Rotary Club, our partner Club in Costa Rica, joined us in the Osa Peninsula with our Peace Corps Volunteer hosts, Luke and Brittany Woodworth. Traveling Rotarians represented (6) Rotary Clubs from (5) Rotary Districts including Costa Rica, Florida, Indiana, Texas, and Colorado. Overall, there were (13) partnering Rotary Clubs providing sets of books to the schools. Our Rotary-Peace Corps-Give-A-Book project is working within the framework of the new Memorandum Of Understanding between Rotary and Peace Corps as we match Rotary Clubs in the United States with Rotary Clubs in Costa Rica to provide books to schools in communities served by Peace Corps Volunteers.
